Allies’ Book Club Via Zoom

Series One ~ “White Fragility” by Robin DeAngelo

You may purchase “White Fragility” for curbside pickup at Books on the Common at 404 Main St, Ridgefield, by emailing or by calling (203) 431-9100. Read the book summary or purchase online at Books on the Common’s online store.

With the recent police murders of black people spurring marches across the country for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, an idea arose around organizing a book club. We are a few friends who grew up in Ridgefield and/or still live in Ridgefield. We want to learn more about how racism is present in our country, our town, and ourselves, and what we can do to undo these injustices. We figured a book club would be a good place to start and that others might be interested in joining. We extend the invitation to you below, and hope you can join us.

📖 In this book club we will read White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.

📖The meetings will take place on Zoom on Tuesdays, from 7-8:15pm. There will be five in total: June 16, June 23, June 30, July 7, & July 14.

📖This book club is geared towards white people. Too often people of color are burdened with having to teach white people about the racism they experience. As white folks organizing this book club, we seek to take responsibility for our antiracist education.

📖If folks of color feel called to join, you are welcome.

📖Alternatively, if folks of color don’t want to participate but want to share an experience/story (related to Ridgefield), feel free to contact us via the Google Form. We welcome you to share. We would strive to be open, thoughtful, and reflective listeners.

📖If you would like to join, please fill out the Google Form below to sign up!

📖Also, please purchase the book White Fragility. Available at Books on the Common

Our first meeting on June 16 will be about getting to know one another. We won’t start reading the book until after that meeting.

Now is a great time to learn and take action! Join us.
